Food and accommodation

Accommodation is in comfortable shared 4-6 bed rooms in local hostels or gîtes in small villages close to where we will be working. Limited accommodation is available for couples, but no single rooms. Normal group size is 15, with a balanced gender and age composition where possible.

We aim to eat the local food as far as possible. Partly catered for in the guest houses, partly in the local bars and restaurants and partly by doing our own cooking as a group. (Please note that we do not have much scope for flexibility in the catering particularly where it is being done for us. Most European countries tend not to cater for non-carnivorous diets. Omelettes seem to appear with great regularity for vegetarians!)

I finally learnt the call of a short-toed treecreeper.
